Using Our Products: Starter Pack
We’re not big on corporate doublespeak at Green n White, but ‘try before you buy’ seems an (annoyingly) pertinent phrase to describe the logic behind the launch deal we’re offering. New members will get their first month of membership free of charge, and will be able to pre-order our Starter Pack and Full House bundles: both of which contain products which will be sent out on the week commencing 5th July 2021. Like any rhyming cliché, of course, it isn’t quite accurate: our members do pay for their Starter Packs, even during their first month of free membership. But it’s worth remembering that all of the products within our bundles are sold to you at the same price it costs us to manufacture them – we make no profit on the goods themselves – and that ordering a Starter Pack during your free first month still offers a really great way to test out our service before committing to a paid membership.
Anyway, we’ll spare you the marketing spiel. At Green n White, we decided early on that what we lack in aggressive salesmanship we’d make up for in radical transparency. With that in mind, we’ve created a guide to our Starter Pack, so that you can have a good idea of what you’re buying and exactly how to get the best out of each of our items. We don’t think we need a garallous sales pitch – once they’re on your shelves, our products will speak for themselves.
Important note: All of the products in our Starter Pack are vegan. We hope it goes without saying that none are tested on animals; that’s not our style (and it shouldn’t be anyone else’s, either).
Caution: The following products can cause irritation upon contact with the eye: toilet cleaner, laundry detergent, all purpose cleaner and washing up liquid. This simply isn’t something we could avoid – to make them effective cleaning agents, we had to include some of the stronger stuff. When using these, therefore, it’s really important to exercise caution. Wear gloves during use and wash hands thoroughly immediately after finishing up. If any does get in your eyes, rinse thoroughly (removing contact lenses if practical). If your eyes continue to feel irritated, seek medical attention immediately.
Nuud Anti-odorant
What is it?
Well, first and foremost, it’s great. Nuud is so good, in fact, that it’s one of the few products we deemed high-quality enough not to require a competitor: creating an alternative to such a sustainable and efficient product would, in our view, only represent a waste of resources. That’s why we decided to work with them rather than against them. More specifically, though, Nuud is a super concentrated anti-odorant that works for 3-7 days. Yes, you read that right; that’s 3-7 days. It eliminates smell by neutralising odorous bacteria using micro silver – but, importantly, it does this without blocking your pores. Have a swim, play a hockey match, run a marathon – Nuud will still keep you fresh..
How to Use
Wash your armpits with soap and dry thoroughly before rubbing a pea-sized dab of Nuud into each armpit. That’s a single garden pea, not an Edamame pod; Nuud is super concentrated, you don’t need much. This is one of the reasons why it’s so sustainable – it lasts for a remarkably long time. There’s one important caveat here, though. If it’s your first time using Nuud, your body might need to detox. Since their anti-odorant helps to return your body to its normal system of perspiration, your pores will sweat and smell a little more than normal for a period of about 2 or 3 weeks. We know this sounds intimidating, but it really isn’t; it’s proof that Nuud is restoring your body to its natural state. Even after the detox period, it’s important to remember that you’ll still sweat while wearing Nuud: it’s an anti– rather than a deodorant. You won’t smell, though, and we think you’ll agree that that’s the main thing!
Green n White Toilet Cleaner
What is it?
The best in the business. For practical purposes, it’s a fairly straightforward toilet cleaner; its lactic base works to descale and kill the bacteria which dwell within the basin. Simple but effective. Its smell is quite pleasant, too: sea salt and lotus flower.
How to Use
We suspect – and we certainly hope – that you’ve used a toilet cleaner before. But for those of you with either short memories or dubious hygiene, we’ll give you a brief reminder. Squeeze the product around the rim of the toilet or urinal, leave for a few minutes, then spread with a toilet blush before flushing. Leaving overnight will increase effectiveness, but isn’t required. Now onto another important part of the process; disposing of the bottle. Remove the cap, rinse the bottle thoroughly, squash it down a little, replace the cap, and recycle with other plastics.
Laundry Detergent
What is it?
Our laundry detergent is biological – which, as you’ll know, means it contains enzymes well-suited to breaking down clothing stains. This characteristic means our detergent doesn’t require high temperatures to ensure a thorough clean. It also has a soothing lavender and chamomile bouquet.
How to Use
How to apply our detergent to your wash depends – in the politest way possible – on the state of your soiled clothes, as well as the nature of your tap water. If your soft water wash is really dirty, it requires 6-10ml of detergent; medium soiling needs 4-6ml, and light dirtiness prefers 2-4ml. For you pampered southerners out there, your hard water needs 3-6ml in the case of heavy soling; 6-9ml for medium dirtiness, and 9-15ml for extreme uncleanliness (though we’re sure you’ll never get to this point, anyway). Our detergent is dispensed 4ml at a time
Washing Up Liquid
What is it?
Simple, effective, sustainable. It’s tough on greasy dishes and kind to your skin.
How it Works
For a standard hand wash, use 25-50ml per 25l of water: that’s a good few pumps of our 4ml dispenser. Heavier, greasier soiling will need more like 100ml per 25l of water. Our liquid is suitable for manual washes, but also works with sink mate and auto-dosing units. There’s really not much else to say: it’s sustainable, it’s affordable, and it does the job brilliantly.
All Purpose Cleaner
What is it?
A swiss-army-knife of a product, our all purpose cleaner will give a gleaming sheen to all water-washable hard surfaces. Given it’s so versatile, we decided to make it fragrance-free; it’s hard to imagine a smell you’d want on both your car and your bed frame. We’ve taken great pains to ensure that this product – unlike many of its contemporaries – isn’t harmful to aquatic life.
How to Use
You’ll be provided with a 1L trigger spray bottle, and the mixing process goes as follows: dilute 15ml of cleaner into the bottle, mixing with water. From there, it’s not rocket science. Step one: apply to surfaces. Step two: wipe squeaky clean. Easy as APC.
We will be sending out products to influencers next week (packaging up tomorrow) so let me know which of the packs would be of interest to you if you would like to receive some:
Personal: Soap Bar, Shampoo Bar, Moisturiser
Household: All Purpose Cleaner, Floor Cleaner, Laundry Detergent
Mixed: Shampoo Bar, All Purpose Cleaner, Hand Soap (liquid)
We would love to see what creative ideas you have! We are offering a free package as mentioned above, along with a free membership (giving you access to all our products at cost) and then a discount code for your followers, which when used would get you credit in our store!
Hand Soap
What is it?
The first of our two hand soaps, this product is designed for those of you who prefer your soap in a bottle. It’s a soothing mixture of Rose and Aloe Vera which produces a rich and silky lather, with a fragrant and refreshing scent.
How to use:
If you haven’t done this before, we suspect you have bigger problems (though your immune system is likely impermeable).
Soap Bar
For our more traditional members. This luxury bar is handmade from responsibly-sourced ingredients by a small family business in Devon. There’s not a synthetic ingredients be found in this little rectangle: just top-quality essential oils – rose geranium, neroli and grapefruit, to be precise – which give the bar its characteristic heady aroma. It’s also really kind to the skin.
How to Use
Really? Right, if you must. Rinse with water, create lather by rubbing between hands for 20 seconds, wash hands. One little tip, though – this bar works especially well when applied to a washcloth or loofah before use. It’s also worth keeping the bar dry between washes – you’ll get even more use out of it.
Lemongrass & Lavender Shampoo Bar
Handmade from responsibly sourced ingredients by the same Devonshire family as our regular soap bar. Very soft on the scalp, perfect for normal to oily hair. Its blend of lavender and lemongrass is zesty, refreshing and citric.
How to Use
Wet hair thoroughly, before rubbing the shampoo bar between your hands and combing through your hair. There’s an important caveat to this one: it may take a couple of weeks for your hair to adjust to the more gentle, natural ingredients in our shampoo bar. Detoxing from synthetic stuff can take a while! Until then, we recommend you use either a vinegar rinse or your regular conditioner to restore your hair’s acidity. Personally we use a spray bottle composed of ⅓ distilled/cider vinegar, ⅔ water, and a few drops of your preferred essential oil. Spray liberally after rinsing and rub in, and leave for a few minutes before washing out.
